Eh, me too. I liked them a lot, and it's hard to see them go. I felt the same way when Tennant left, though, so I guess I know well enough to trust that Moffat will make it up to us...

TBH I'm looking forward to JLC as the new companion. She was kinda meh in Asylum of the Daleks but I think giving her full attention from now on will be quite interesting. I wonder if she'll be a Dalek or if he'll free her spirit etc.

As for River, her days are being numbered and I think Moffat might phase her out slowly. She was professor at this time which means her time is ending. They could always have an earlier version of River come back but I can't see that helping the story much and I think we'll be seeing her telling the doctor she and some team are heading up to a strange library when they next meet. Unless this was her last episode as well.

I actually quite enjoyed her in Asylum of the Daleks, if only because it seemed like she might actually be smarter than the Doctor, or at least knew how to do a lot of things that he didn't. It was pretty hilarious to see his reaction to that, and it's a dynamic that we really never saw from any of the other companions.
I kind of hope we see her as a person, since it looks like she appears in the flesh for the Christmas special. Perhaps she's a different character altogether? Both Freema and Karen showed up in previous episodes as completely different characters, with no acknowledgement from anybody. Or it's possible they'll pull what they did with Gwen from Torchwood, and have her be some distant relation.

I loathed the character so much at first, I can't even tell you, but she has kind of grown on me, if only because she adds such a marvellous new dimension to the Doctor. It definitely caught my attention that she's a professor now, and given her treatment during the library episode it stands to reason that not much time passed between her pardon and her expedition to the library. It's certainly likely that she's nearing the end of her time, which is... interesting. I'd like to see how the Doctor handles that, especially since he does actually know that she's destined to die like that, and there's nothing he can do about it - he could try, but River would never, ever let him mess with causality that way.

Also, now that I think about it, it wouldn't really create much of a paradox to go back and get Rory. The Doctor and Martha TARDIS'ed out of there when the angels tossed them back in time, and that didn't really do anything to the surrounding area. They could pick him up, have 60-odd years worth of adventures, then travel back to that spot when Rory is near death, drop him off and let him die, effectively saving the causality. Besides, the Doctor's complaint that he can never see them in that timestream is patently untrue. River does it to give Amy the manuscript for the book, so obviously it doesn't rupture the fabric of time and space to pop round for a visit. All the Doctor would have to do is use a vortex manipulator of his own - and given that those things seem to perform as well as (if not better than) the TARDIS, there really isn't a good reason for him not to.
I'm going to chalk the obvious errors (this and the vortex manipulator) up to simple forgetfulness in the heat of the moment. In fact, from a certain standpoint, the fact that they ended things so unbelievably pointlessly is part of the tragedy. (As if they needed more. It's already bad enough that the Doctor never did go tell young Amelia what she would grow up to become (because if he did, the future would change, and since it hasn't, he didn't)).

We know he won't try based on the library episode, but I think he did realize and wanted to tell her briefly while the angel held her and they were talking about "fixed points in time that can't be changed". I wonder if he was tempted in that moment to tell her even though we know he never will.

You must watch this, I almost teared up. I WILL MISS AMY AND RORY. Poor Brian, it was a scripted scene that never ended up being shot which i think really should've been shot.
