ROUND THIRTEEN: STORYTELLER / WRITE YOUR OWN
Come on in, guys!
Two immunities up for grabs!
Come on in, guys!
Two immunities up for grabs!
I figured... why do a dramatic reveal when you know that there are two immunities? Of course, you probably know WHY also.
Of course... there's an additional stipulation here. This is a double Tribal Council round, with TWO separate 24-hour votes happening back-to-back. Rewards, including HIIs, are ONLY good at the vote you play them at, and will not carry over under any circumstances. The immunities are good for BOTH votes.
Here's how this is going to work: There are TWO options here, after my two favourite writing challenges. Storyteller, in which you write a 800+-word story about anything that happened in this series, and Write Your Own, in which you create a fresh Survivor season with your own cast, theme/twist, and series of events. No word restriction for this, but the more you write, the better.
For Storyteller, I want a STORY. I want a fictitious series of events based on the actual stuff that happened. If you just do a plain recap, you will not win. Look at some examples: Candice's Inactiveidous outbreak, Russell's paintball game, or Lex's Agatha Christie takeoff. All of those took events of the game and spun them as a story. There are plenty more good ones, those are just three winners that stick out.
Remember, you must do AT LEAST 800 words. The longer, the more effort. Keep that in mind.
For Write Your Own, you at the bare minimum must include a cast list, a theme or twist of your choosing, a season recap, and a voting history. This is UG, so I'm upping the ante here. You need to outright state your theme and cast list, but please do not spoil the boot order in advance - let us read it as it happened, like we're watching it on TV. Entertain us, do something original like Parv and Candey did in Jiuzhaigou.
You need to recap your entire season, but it is your call how many castaways to have, whether or not to disclose a location, etc. You do NOT have to use actual Survivor contestants for your theme, but are welcome to if you please. If you do use Survivor contestants, keep in mind who is judging you!
BOTH challenges will be scored as such:
Originality [10 points] - Is the story a refreshing bath in an original reality or a rabble of clichés and overdone constituents seen previously?
Believability [10 points] - Is the story a sensible chain of events or an array of endless oddities? Do the characters act in realistic believance with the depicted reality or as headless chickens?
Entertainment [10 points] - Is the story an electric surge of endearing enjoyment or an endless bore of drying paint?
Grammar and Effort [10 points] - Was the time commitment a serious endeavor or an afterthought? Is it a feasible submission to an English professor or to a kindergarten art teacher?
Intangibles [5 points] - Our way of giving someone an edge if we feel like they did something that others did not.
[Storyteller only]
Relation to the game [5 points] - Does the scripture make a visible connection to the series at hand or delve into unrelated nonsense?
[Write Your Own only]
Organization [5 points] - Is the layout reminiscent of Victorian architecture or is the blueprint lost in confusion? Are spoilers divulged prior to events, thus hindering enjoyment, or is it smooth?
It's 50 points per judge for either. FIVE of myself, Erik, Benry, Steph, Jeff, JP/Dan, Bobby, and Sandra will judge all submissions, so a total of 250 points are at stake.
There are two immunities available: One for Storyteller, one for Write Your Own. Highest scorer for each wins. This means that you could feasibly submit one for each challenge, if you want to invest the time, which you don't have much of. This challenge will only run for 48 hours, no extensions. You all have an equal amount of time to put the effort into this. I don't want excuses. You HAVE to at least post 100 words' worth of story or fanfic in order to get a vote this round. I WILL NOT TOLERATE LAZINESS!
You may modify your posts as needed, and I'd prefer the entire thing to be in one post so it's easier to copy-paste into the archive site. You may also submit it as a word processing file, but the format MUST be in .doc, .docx, or the .rtf format - NO OTHERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
It is your call on how to budget your time for this. Keep in mind, however, that we may need 24 hours to judge given how lengthy these are bound to be. You have 48 hours to write, and hell, I will use this time to finally write that fucking recap!
Like I said at treemail and above: This is UG. You can manage 800 words in two days. Make it epic. Make it fun. Make us enjoy it. If yours is incomplete, wouldn't someone else's be, too?
Note: Submissions will be posted AFTER THE GAME, because they may divulge spoilers of how certain people think of each other.
Remember: Two immunities, two people leaving this round. Keep this in mind!
Good luck everyone! If you have grammar questions or anything I CAN help you with, give me a holler. Survivors ready? WRITE!
